What song was #1 the day you were born?
Mine was “I Love Rock’n’Roll” by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, and I’m entirely ok with that. You find find your answer via Billboard’s stats.

gary: Is Effort enough to Scale? I think way too many people don’t think a person, or a personal brand or even a consumer brand can scale but I think effort is massively under rated, what do you guys think? Having trouble viewing this video? Try the Quicktime version. At Punknews we’ve found ourselves coming around to this question again and again in the last few weeks. We’re...

The Punknews.org Tumblr has been revamped →
Punknews social media editor Justin August did some great work this afternoon on the Punknews Tumblr. Check it out, and by all means follow both him and it (this is particularly directed at all the Joe Strummer obsessives that I follow / am followed by, we’d love to reblog your craziness there).

Best of 2009
Over the next week I’ll be tumbling out my top 20 records of 2009. The official list will be posted on Punknews.org along with the rest of my colleagues on the 29th. I’ll throw a couple of short write ups here per day leading up that.

Bouncing Souls detail "Ghosts on The Boardwalk" →
This CD features the songs the band released on their month-by-month throughout 2009. CDs don’t interest me any more, but what is perplexing is that the songs have been resequenced from their release order for this collection. Do I similarly change the ordering of my digital files or do I keep the original order? This is an early January release but the songs were all made public in 2009....
